BUILDING AND LAND DEVELOPMENT
The City adopted the 2021 I-Codes and 2023 NEC on August 13, 2024 through Ordinance No. O-2024-014.
Code requirements are those minimum standards designed to secure the interests of public safety, health, and general welfare through incidental to use and occupancy of all structures. These codes pertain primarily to subdivision plans and multi-family, commercial, industrial, institutional or public building applications. All adopted ICC Codes are available by ordering through the International Code Council.
We are committed to providing current and future citizens quality service related to development and code enforcement through the uses of modern practices in engineering, architecture, and public health. We strive to accomplish these tasks efficiently and effectively to the community we serve.
The primary responsibility is to review plans and construction documents for all residential and commercial construction for compliance with the various codes adopted by the City Council, including Building, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing, as well as various State and Federal guidelines.
The Plan Review is followed by the field inspections during the actual construction to ensure compliance with the approved construction documents.
In addition to new structural construction, permits are required for any remodeling, installation of air conditioning and heating systems, electrical, construction of garages and carports.
