Code Compliance

Mission

The mission of the City of Magnolia Code Compliance Division is to have a positive impact on the City as a whole and to improve the quality of life throughout the community.  Code Enforcement will achieve these objectives through professionalism and positive interaction with the community.  Code Compliance will respond promptly to all reported violations, educate the public on nuisance ordinances, and continue to provide quality service to the community.

Code Compliance is responsible for addressing nuisance and property standard violations to ensure a safe and healthful environment for the community. These violations include high weeds and grass, trash and debris, illegal dumping and illegal home occupations.  The main goal of this enforcement is to resolve violations to reduce neighborhood deterioration and ensure property values.

Code Compliance Officers conduct surveys and investigate complaints concerning dangerous buildings, substandard structures, excessively high grass and weeds, accumulation of trash and debris, illegal dumping, non-operational vehicles and other general nuisance-related violations.  Takes photographs and gathers all pertinent facts associated with possible code violations, prepares required documentation for legal actions, prepares detailed reports and correspondence related to code enforcement inspections, violations and other activities.

Often the best way to solve a problem is to become a part of the solution. You can help make Magnolia a cleaner, safer community by keeping your property clean.

Most people want to comply with the laws of the community where they live, but some don’t. Sometimes people violate City codes because they don’t realize what they are doing is not acceptable.   Reporting violators is important to the overall quality of life in our community and it helps our City Code Compliance Officer do a better job.  To expedite service and response, make sure that you have a specific address before calling and any additional information that will help get the problem resolved.
