Water & Wastewater
As of January 1, 2023, these details are to be used on all construction drawings in the City and ETJ:
Where does our water come from?
In 1925 the first water well (#1) was drilled in the Jasper aquifer at a depth of approximately 1307 feet in the area of Sixth and Melton Streets. In 1968, the second water well (#2) was drilled in the Evangeline aquifer at a depth of approximately 550 feet in the area of Sixth and Melton Streets. In 1985, a third well (#3) was drilled in the Evangeline aquifer at a depth of approximately 600 feet near the area of Sixth and Melton Streets. This well has remained unused since the time of construction. In 1989, two wells (#4 and #5) were drilled in the Evangeline aquifer at the approximate depths of 662 feet and 842 feet at the intersection of Elm and Michaels Streets. In 2007 a sixth well (#6) was drilled in the Evangeline aquifer at a depth of approximately 820 feet near the end of Kelly Road.
Today the City of Magnolia receives water from Well #4, pumping capability of 320 GPM, Well #5, pumping capability of 260 GPM and Well #6, pumping capability of 1000 GPM with water being stored in 2 ground storage tanks with a combined capacity of 400,000 gallons and 2 elevated storage tanks with a combined capacity of 400,000 gallons.
